Welcome to Tetra v1.20!!
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Welcome to the second official release of Tetra! Tetra is an
online variation of the well known Russian game TETRIS.
Your users can play Tetra all by them self or against you, the
Sysop!! As with the normal Tetris, you'll have to make
horizontal lines by turning and dropping the blocks.
This version is almost the same as v1.10, except that this
version is RA 2.00 compatible.
Previous versions from Tetra where released by Richard Faasen,
and he is responsible for most of the code. He stopped the
developing because he switched programming languages.
Features in this version
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ DESQview aware. Tetra will give timeslices back if the user
is doing nothing;
■ Multiline support. Finds all configuration files and detects
internode messages. Support for sharing and locking of files.
(SHARE.EXE should be loaded!!);
■ 100% RA 2.00 compatible;
■ AVATAR support for FAST screen updates;
■ Internal ANSI and AVATAR emulation;
■ Monitors carrier, timelimit and keyboard inactivity timeouts;
■ Uses fossil for all communications;
■ Sysop friendly RA alike status line and RA alike sysop keys;
■ Uses hotkeys for both user and sysop;
■ User can play Tetra with the normal cursor keys. No need for
NUMLOCK to be ON;
■ Support for USERON v3.0 and up ((c) 1991 Gerhard Hoogterp);

Tetra is distributed in a archive, containing the following

Tetra.Doc -=> The file you are reading.
WhatsNew.120 -=> Changes in this version.
English.Arj -=> Archive containing English textfiles for
Tetra
Dutch.Arj -=> Archive containing Dutch textfiles for
Tetra.
German.Arj -=> Archive containing German textfiles for
Tetra.
You may re-archive the distribution archive to any valid
compression type, but please do NOT add any other file(s) to
this archive!
System requirements
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Tetra will run on all Remote Access v2.00 Bulletin Board
Systems. Tetra has been thoroughly tested with various system
setups on about 20 different systems, with very good results.
Tetra has been tested with DESQview, and should work with other
multitaskers (like MicroSoft Windows 3.0 and DoubleDos) as well.
Tetra takes up about 100 k of your precious system memory.
Using Tetra with highspeed modems.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Tetra has been tested with various high speed modems such as the
USRobotics HST and the VidiCode Stentor V32Bis. Playing Tetra
with a high speed modem should not give any problems. However,
if you are using a high speed modem in conjunction with a

multitasker such as DESQview, and you have NOT installed a
NS16550AN UART, you are in for some really nice problems!!
Installation of Tetra
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Installation of Tetra is very simple:
Make a directory somewhere on your harddisk, and make a type 7
shell entry with the following parameters:
Action Execute sub-program (type 7)
Optional data C:\RA\TETRA\TETRA.EXE
Hot Key T
Automatic N
That's all there is to do....
Support for foreign languages
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Tetra has support for foreign languages. There are currently
three languages supported in this version:
■ Dutch (Dutch.Zip)
■ English (English.Zip)
■ German (German.Zip)
You should unpack the textfiles into the appropriate textfiles
directory. Tetra will automaticly use the textfiles for the
selected language.
Contact the author (see below) if you want to make screens for
your language as well!
If you take a look at the format, you see that a strange format
is used, and only .ASC files are included.
These strange codes will be translated on the fly when
displaying the files, and send the fastest code depending on the
terminal emulation.
Full specifications of these codes will come at a later stage.
Hints on how to play Tetra
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Playing Tetra means fun! Playing Tetra is not difficult, but we
will explain some basic rules here. If you need any help on
playing Tetra, just type H in the Tetra main menu.
The rules / basic principles:
- 4 -
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Tetra v1.20Users manual─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The goal of the game is to make horizontal lines by turning and
dropping the blocks. Each time you make one or more horizontal
lines, they will disappear.
There are 10 levels. (0-9). Each 10 lines you will raise one
level. Each level the game goes faster! If you drop a block, you
will gain extra points depending on the height and the level.
The more lines you remove at once, the more points per line you
will gain. If you play against the sysop, and you remove two or
more lines, there will go one or more lines to your opponent.
If you win from the sysop you will gain some extra bonus points.
While playing with the sysop, the timer is frozen.

Registering Tetra / how to contact the author
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
As stated earlier, Tetra is distributed under the CARDware
concept. That means that you MUST register Tetra after a trial
period of 30 days.
To register Tetra, send a postcard of your village or country
to:
Richard Faasen, In Fase Productions
Koningsweer 72

Holland.
I left Richards address standing here, because he did all the
major work on Tetra, and until the time that I make a really big
contribution on the game itselve, I would like postcards to be
still send to him.
If you want to contact the author, (for bugreports or tips for
future versions etc.) please use the following adress, or send a
message by netmail:
Hans Siemons, Prime Productions.
Crogtdijk 1,
4815 AD, Breda.
Holland.
Fidonet 2:512/149
Or logon to my BBS: +31-76-715391 (HST/DS v32b)
If you are sending a postcard to Richard anyway, one to my
address is also welcomed, but not mandatory!
We thank you for your support!
Note: If you report bugs, please include some information about
your system and the software you are running. That makes
it a lot easier for us to solve the problem / fix the bug.
Thank you!
